Last Wednesday, June 5, the Clúster Digital de Catalunya organized a visit to the Cisco Innovation Center in Barcelona, as part of the Cafès TIC cycle, appointments that are already part of the organization's regular agenda and that have the aim of sharing experiences on new developments in the sector and getting to know the day-to-day life of reference companies in the technological and digital field in Catalonia.
The event offered the opportunity to learn about Cisco's facilities in Barcelona, located in Ca L'Alier, a landmark building in sustainable architecture and energy efficiency, at 22@ in the Poblenou district. This center is part of its global network of innovation laboratories, Cisco Innovation Labs, through which the company offers hyperlocal innovation capabilities, that is, they innovate locally but maintain a global view. They have a team specialized in design and engineering to create proof of concepts and prototypes quickly and that can be taken anywhere in the world and incubated on a global scale.
A dozen attendees from companies associated with the Clúster Digital who were able to enjoy a guided tour by the Director of the Center, Xavier Azemar, who took the opportunity to explain some of the cutting edge innovation projects they are carrying out . In addition, visitors were able to test the Webex Hologram, an augmented reality meeting solution.
The event, exclusive to members of the Cluster, continued with a lengthy presentation by Andreu Vilamitjana, Director General of Cisco Spain and Portugal, who emphasized that the American company installed in Barcelona a center of microchip design, being the first facilities of this class that the company opened in the European Union.
He also emphasized the company's effort to promote inclusivity, diversity and a conscious culture as the basis of its business success, which is evidenced by having achieved the recognition of Great Place to Work Spain.
