The Digital Cluster collects innovation facilitators and interregional collaboration dynamics in Catalonia within the framework of the BOOST project

Marta Segarra,

As partners of the BOOST European project: - Boosting Smart Innovation Ecosystems, the Digital Cluster of Catalonia has participated in the preparation of an exhaustive study called "Innovation Enablers mapping and Intraregional Collaboration Dynamics" making a collection of innovation facilitators and interregional collaboration dynamics in Catalonia. This study reveals the diversity and scope of the actors in the Catalan innovation ecosystem, which include clusters, innovation hubs, universities, public entities, research centers and many other key actors.

The BOOST project, which has a duration of 24 months and a budget of €500,000, has as its main objective to facilitate intra- and interregional collaboration between stakeholders related to innovation in five European regions from five different countries (Romania , Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia and Catalonia).

With a participatory and inclusive methodology, we seek to co-design an Action Plan for innovation that will anchor the next measures to support innovation and promote interregional collaboration over the next five years.

The study carried out provides an overview of the main actors in the five associated regions, capable of fostering innovation, and at the same time evaluates the current intra-regional collaboration between them. In other words, it aims to provide the innovation actors, institutions and sites of the regional ecosystems of the BOOST consortium, as well as other regions of Europe, with an inclusive, structured and rapid framework for collaboration that maximizes the value of innovation for society and reduces innovation disparities between European regions.

The BOOST consortium consists of organizations representing the regions and countries mentioned: Bulgarian Business Forum (Bulgaria), Transilvania IT Cluster (Romania), North-West Regional Development Agency (Romania), Vejie Kommune (Denmark), Tartu Science Park ( Estonia) and the Digital Cluster (Catalonia).

As part of the process, the BOOST project will conduct mapping and analysis to open dialogue, generate engagement and facilitate collaboration between stakeholders in the innovation of regional partner ecosystems, creating an active community and driving collaboration in the form of runners. Specifically, the following steps will be taken:

The BOOST project represents a significant advance in European collaboration, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation and knowledge sharing to drive innovation and address societal challenges. By pooling the knowledge and resources of the participating regions, the BOOST project aims to create a vibrant and interconnected network that boosts the European innovation ecosystem.
